More info on Vlad and where we go from here

Dan provided me some additional information; Vlad basically is not doing too well at the moment and is taking a mental health break from various things. So he’s on hiatus for an extended period of time. Hopefully he will return presently, but in the meantime this is going to present some Issues.

I havn’t really talked all this out before extensively, but basically the way these RPGs generally work is that I do the IT stuff and work on actually running the RPG and managing the staff, where Vlad creates a lot of the content (profiles, bases, thick meaty background posts). It’s something like the difference between a manager who dabbles in engineering, and the engineer himself. What this generally means is that Vlad’s work on the RPG tends to be heavily front-loaded– he does a lot of work before the RPG starts and then, ideally, gets to relax a lot more once things are actually rolling. This didn’t quite work out as well as I’d hoped in practice in the last RPG, but it was definitely my intent for this one.

So. With Vlad taking a break, I’ll be taking on the business of getting the new MS profiles ready to go. Because Vlad loves his showmanship (which is not a bad thing), he hasn’t told me what all new stuff he was going to add to everyone, so I’ll be taking my own course on that (and if/when he returns, he can shuffle things around at his leisure at that point).

However. My writing skills (and HTML flogging, oh god) are nowhere near Vlad’s. So this is going to take longer for the actual profiles. Those of you who are owed Vladprofiles -will- be hooked up. They will be Troikaprofiles for the nonce, and at no extra charge, you will be hooked up with a better profile if Vlad returns and wants to do them, or some form of alternate reimbursement if he doesn’t want to.

I feel I should go into the creation of Vladprofiles a lil more. Vlad creates all his NotMAHQ stuff using a template file that he then edits in Dreamweaver, a $300 piece of software which I don’t own and is a royal pain in the ass to crack. I will be taking a swing at this using alternate HTML editors, but keep in mind that I havn’t touched something like this since before people knew they could eat eggs, so it’ll be slightly slow going till I find something I’m comfortable with.

Development WILL continue. I make no promises on ETA as both my IRL problems with social security and this have tossed our schedule out the window.
